Today we visited Megiddo, where archeologists have dug a slice though the Tel (mound) revealing traces of up to 21 cities over 6 millennia. Because of its strategic location this was the site of many battles recorded in the Bible and this would have informed John’s description of Armageddon
Nazareth is today a bustling settlement of 75,000 people – a newer Jewish city has been built nearby.
As we drove through Nazareth we thought of Jesus walking the streets to building sites with Joseph.
We walked through the archeological site of Sepphoris (Zippori) 8km from Nazareth and think of Jesus and Joseph possibly having a hand in building some of the structures.
In our Kibbutz at Tiberius in Galilee I ate fish at dinner tonight and imagined it caught in the Sea of Galilee.
Impressions from the day – everything seems to be close enough to walk but the terrain is hilly.
Its cold and wet here – its winter – but we like being away from Sydney’s humidity!
